Security forces arrested two active cadres associated with the proscribed RPF/PLA in separate operations conducted on Monday in Manipur, officials said.
In the first operation, an active RPF/PLA cadre identified as Nongmaithem Narendra Meitei alias Banner (50), a resident of Kumbi Makha Leikai and presently residing at Kwakeithel Mayaikoibi Mamang Leikai under Lamphel Police Station, was arrested from his residence in Imphal West district on December 22.
He was taken into custody on charges of extortion. During the arrest, security personnel recovered two mobile phones along with two SIM cards and an Aadhaar card from his possession. The seized items have been taken into custody as part of the ongoing investigation.
In another operation on the same day, security forces arrested Kshetrimayum Nilakanta Singh alias Kanta alias Mangal (51), an active RPF/PLA cadre, from Takyel Kolom Leikai Leirak-6 under Lamphel Police Station in Imphal West district. He is a resident of Kakching Turel Wangma in Kakching district and was staying at Langjing Achouba Awang Leikai, Imphal West. Two mobile handsets and a driving licence were recovered from his possession.

Meanwhile, security forces also recovered two improvised mortars and three wireless sets during a search operation conducted in the Konaitong and Pelyang hill ranges under Machi Police Station in Tengnoupal district on December 22. Further investigation into the recoveries is underway, officials added.
