Union Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Thursday inaugurated the Polo Commercial Complex in Shillong, developed under the Shillong Smart City Project. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar.
The newly constructed complex features over 90 shops and includes mechanized car parking facilities, aimed at improving commercial infrastructure and easing urban congestion in the city.
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, in a social media post, welcomed the Union Minister and highlighted the state government’s focus on transformative urban projects in New Shillong. He said the ongoing developments are set to redefine the city’s landscape in the coming years.
Union Minister Sitharaman also shared details of the event on her official social media page, noting her participation alongside the Chief Minister.
