Union Minister Ajay Tamta Visit Manipur for Three-Day Review of NHIDCL Projects And Development Initiatives

Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways, Ajay Tamta, arrived in Manipur today on a three-day official visit to review ongoing projects under the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) and various other development activities in the state.

Upon his arrival, the Union Minister visited Loktak and Sendra, before departing for Churachandpur, where he reviewed progress on Aspirational Blocks, NHIDCL works, and district-level programmes. He also interacted with the district administration, beneficiaries of government schemes, and members of displaced communities.

At the Mini Secretariat, Churachandpur, Shri Tamta was received by Deputy Commissioner Dharun Kumar S, along with district-level officers, representatives of internally displaced persons (IDPs), and scheme beneficiaries. A programme was held in the Conference Hall of the Mini Secretariat, where the district administration reaffirmed its commitment to inclusive growth and community welfare.

During the event, awards were presented to five IDP students who excelled in board examinations, highlighting the government’s focus on education and support for displaced families. Benefits under several flagship schemes—Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PM-FME), Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY), Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), and Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY)—were distributed. Participants who excelled in activities marking Jan Jatiya Gaurav Diwas 2025 were also felicitated.

Shri Tamta presented special awards to Lalthazam, CEO of ADCC; Seiminthang, ADC, Churachandpur; and two Aspirational Blocks Programme (ABP) Fellows for their outstanding contributions to local development.

The Union Minister also reviewed the progress of various departmental works under Central and State schemes. He interacted with officials from multiple departments and aspirational blocks, appreciating their efforts and assuring continued Central support to address local challenges and strengthen grassroots implementation.

On Wednesday, Tamta will travel to Pherzawl, where he will visit CHC Parbung, the Agarbati Manufacturing Unit at Taithu Village, and Banana, Betel Nut, and Orange Plantation Farms in the region. He will also inspect the PMGSY road connecting Taithu and Zoliensuo before returning to Pherzawl District Headquarters. Later in the day, he is scheduled to proceed to Imphal, where he will meet Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla and attend a review meeting and presentation by RO-Imphal on NHIDCL projects in the state.

On the final day of his visit (Thursday), the Minister will visit the Kanglatombi War Memorial, followed by a briefing by NHIDCL (GM/ED). He will then travel to Presidency College, Motbung in Kangpokpi District, where he will interact with beneficiaries of various government schemes. Distribution of materials under PMJAY, PMAY, PM-KISAN, PMEGP, Shakti Sadan, and CCI programmes will also take place before his return to Imphal and departure for New Delhi.
