Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia Congratulates Sikkim On Being Declared Fully Literate State

Gangtok, May 28: Sikkim has reached a landmark in its education journey as it was officially declared a fully literate state under the ULLAS (Understanding of Lifelong Learning for All in Society) initiative. Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region Jyotiraditya Scindia congratulated the people of Sikkim, calling the achievement a historic moment.

 

In a post on X, Scindia wrote, “Saakshar Sikkim is now a reality! A historic moment for Sikkim as the State is formally declared fully literate under ULLAS.” He underlined that education is the foundation of an empowered and developed region, adding that the milestone reflects Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a “Viksit North East.”

Scindia reiterated that the Prime Minister’s resolve is to ensure the progress and development of Sikkim. During his visit to the state earlier this month for the 51st Statehood Day celebrations, he extended greetings to the people and emphasized the government’s commitment to Sikkim’s advancement.

He also Emphasized a ₹360 crore mission supported by the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region, designed to transform Sikkim from a certified organic producer into a globally integrated premium organic economy. The initiative aims to strengthen farmer incomes, empower farmer producer organizations, expand cold-chain and logistics networks, and benefit more than 66,000 farmer families across the state.
