Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs, Government of India, Kiren Rijiju, arrived in Sikkim on Thursday for an official visit. He was accompanied by Indian singer Mohit Chauhan.
On arrival, the Union Minister was received by Minister for Water Resources, PHE & Ecclesiastical Affairs Department Ven Sonam Lama, along with Political Secretary to the Chief Minister (Press and Publicity Affairs) Bikash Basnett. Senior officials including Secretary, Ecclesiastical Affairs Department Kesang Diki Rechung, Secretary, Social Welfare Department Sarika Pradhan, Chairman of the Sikkim Commission for Backward Classes Kabita Sapkota, and Press Secretary to the Chief Minister Yougan Tamang were present to welcome him.
During his visit, Rijiju is scheduled to attend a series of official programmes, including meetings and field inspections in Mangan district.
Officials present at the reception included Additional District Collector (Headquarters) Sabindra Rai, Additional Superintendent of Police, Pakyong ML Pradhan, APS to the Chief Minister Bishal Sharma, Officer on Special Duty, Water Resources Department Gagan Gurung, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Rangpo Sujata Subba, Deputy Director, Tourism and Civil Aviation Department Sushma Pradhan, along with other officials from various departments and police personnel.
