Agartala, May 30, 2026: Union Minister for Power and Housing & Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal Khattar, is scheduled to visit Tripura on May 31 as part of his three-day tour of the Northeast and eastern India. During his visit, he will take part in programmes celebrating the sixth anniversary of the PM SVANidhi scheme and is expected to assess the state’s power sector infrastructure.
According to officials, the Union Minister’s itinerary includes visits to Mizoram, West Bengal and Tripura between May 29 and May 31. Throughout the tour, he will hold discussions with state governments to review progress and address issues related to the power and urban development sectors.
In Agartala, Khattar will attend a special event marking six years of the PM SVANidhi scheme, where he will interact with beneficiaries from across the Northeastern region. The programme is aimed at highlighting the scheme’s impact on street vendors and promoting financial inclusion.
Officials said the minister is also likely to conduct a review of Tripura’s power infrastructure, visit key power facilities, and hold meetings with senior officials of the state Power Department.
Launched by the Central Government in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the PM SVANidhi scheme provides affordable working capital loans to street vendors while encouraging digital transactions and greater access to formal financial services.
