Agartala, November 14, 2022: All India Trinamool Congress leader and West Bengal’s Lok Sabha MP Mahua Moitra on Monday compared Tripura Bharatiya Janata Party’s commitments in “Vision Document” as “Fairy Tale”.

Moitra on Monday afternoon participated in a protest procession followed by a public gathering organized by Tripura Pradesh Trinamool Congress committee in front of Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan here in Agartala city.

She was accompanied by West Bengal MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, Rajya Sabha MP Sushmita Dev, TMC Tripura in-charge Rajib Banerjee and others.

Addressing the open-public gathering, Moitra said that the BJP raised allegations against Trinamool Congress under the leadership of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of destroying West Bengal. “If this had happened, then why had the electorates had voted TMC to power for three consecutive terms? Does the BJP think that the people are fools?” she asked.

Citing a comparison of the commitments in BJP’s “Vision Document” as “Fairy Tales”, West Bengal’s Lok Sabha MP said “Reaching here in Agartala, I found that the posters of BJP reflect the stories of fairy tales. Despite promising jobs for everyone, where have all jobs gone? Even the Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma flew from Guwahati to Agartala and promised that jobs will be given. But unemployment had reached its peak.”

Moitra also alleged that the people of Tripura are being fooled by the BJP-led government as not a single commitment has been fulfilled. Moreover, incidents of rape are frequent in Gujarat and Tripura. She said “When I protested against Bilkis Bano’s rapist and knocked the door of the Supreme Court, a BJP MLA from Godhra of Gujarat said this work can’t be done by ‘Sanskari Brahmin’ and BJP has again given him ticket to contest the election. This is what a double engine government”.

Labelling allegations against BJP for campaigning false commitments, the MP also said “People have lost the right to raise queries in Tripura as the ruling BJP has suppressed the voice of democracy. Can BJP prove post poll violence in West Bengal as they had raised such allegations. Due to the utter failure of Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, he was removed from his post before his tenure ends. This is the failure of the BJP-led government in this state.”
