Agartala, July 01, 2025: Tripura’s Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy on Monday inaugurated the newly constructed Sub-Treasury at Karbook in Gomati district marking it as the 15th sub-treasury in the state. The move is aimed at ensuring faster and more transparent delivery of government benefits especially in remote and tribal areas.

“In line with the motto of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, and Sabka Prayas, the government is committed to inclusive development,” said the Finance Minister during the inauguration ceremony. He added that the state now has 9 full-fledged treasuries and 15 sub-treasuries, following the addition of the Karbook unit.

The Finance Minister also launched an awareness camp under the Karbook Block-based Dharti Aba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan — a special initiative aimed at uplifting tribal communities. “The campaign is set to benefit 1,18,487 tribal families across the state by providing access to a range of government welfare schemes,” he informed.

The event also saw the distribution of certificates and welfare benefits to selected beneficiaries.

Sabhadipati of Gomati Zilla Parishad Debal Debroy hailed the sub-treasury as a significant administrative step forward. “This will streamline government financial transactions in the Karbook subdivision and support local development,” he noted.

MLAs Ranjit Das and Sanjay Manik Tripura, Director of Treasury and Accounts Akinchan Sarkar and Gomati Additional District Magistrate Subhash Acharya were among the dignitaries present. Local officials including BAC chairpersons, administrative and health department representatives also attended the program.

Officials said the initiatives are expected to improve service delivery and raise the socio-economic standards of the tribal population in the region.
