Agartala, April 20, 2026: In a significant push towards strengthening the state’s innovation ecosystem, the Directorate of Information Technology (DIT), Government of Tripura, on Monday organised a startup workshop at T-NEST in Hapania, bringing together entrepreneurs, students, and key stakeholders under one platform.
Titled “Building Startups in Tripura: Success, Protection & Growth Capital,” the workshop highlighted the state government’s ongoing efforts to promote entrepreneurship and innovation. The programme was inaugurated by Chief Secretary Jitendra Kumar Sinha in the presence of IT Secretary Kiran Gitte, IT Director Jeya Ragul Geshan B, and other senior officials.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Secretary emphasised the government’s vision of positioning Tripura as an emerging destination for startups and investment. He called for greater collaboration between entrepreneurs, academic institutions, and government agencies to drive innovation-led growth in the state.

Officials highlighted that the recently introduced Tripura Start-Up Policy, 2025—replacing the earlier IT/ITeS Start-Up Scheme—has already approved around 118 startups, reflecting growing entrepreneurial momentum. The establishment of T-NEST (Tripura: Nurturing Entrepreneurship and Startups), inaugurated earlier this year, was described as a key institutional step towards providing incubation support and fostering innovation.
The workshop featured multiple expert sessions focusing on startup development, intellectual property rights, and access to funding. Entrepreneur Prasanta Sarkar shared insights from his journey in building a technology-driven startup, while experts also discussed innovation protection mechanisms and the Tripura Startup Venture Capital Fund.
The event also recognised student innovators and startups supported under government schemes, encouraging young talent to pursue entrepreneurial ventures.
With active participation from various stakeholders, the workshop served as a platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration, reinforcing the state’s commitment to building a robust startup ecosystem aligned with the vision of a developed Tripura and India.
