Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) has named party spokesperson K. Laltluangkima as its candidate for Mizoram’s lone Rajya Sabha seat, with the election scheduled for June 18.
The announcement comes while opposition parties remain undecided on their nominees. Congress, which holds just one seat in the 40-member Assembly, is unlikely to contest, according to spokesperson Lalremruata Renthlei. The Mizo National Front (MNF), however, is expected to field a candidate, a party leader indicated.
In the current Assembly, ZPM commands a majority with 27 legislators, giving it a clear advantage. The MNF has 10 members, while the BJP holds two seats, positioning ZPM strongly ahead of the upcoming contest.
