Amid ongoing security concerns in Manipur’s hill districts, state police and security forces carried out two coordinated operations on March 24, resulting in the arrest of a key accused and the recovery of a large cache of illegal arms and ammunition.

Manipur Police arrested Md Shanjit Khan (38), a resident of Thoubal district, from Moreh in Tengnoupal district. He was reportedly wanted in connection with an FIR registered at Senapati Police Station in December 2025.
Officials said he is linked to a serious criminal case, with further investigation underway.
In a separate operation, security forces conducted search and area domination exercises in Kangpokpi district, leading to the recovery of multiple firearms, including a 9 mm carbine, country-made pistols and rifles, as well as two improvised mortars.
Ammunition, cartridges, and pellets were also seized during the operation.
Officials said the recovery underscores the continued presence of illegal arms in sensitive areas and the need for sustained security operations.
Further investigations are ongoing to determine possible links between the accused and the seized weapons, and to identify any larger network involved.
