Manipur Governor Reviews Development And Security In Churachandpur, Meets IDPs

Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla, visited Churachandpur district to review development initiatives and security measures. He was accompanied by the First Lady Governor.

At the Pre-Fabricated Resettlement Camp in Torbung, the Governor interacted with Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), inaugurated a crèche centre, and distributed relief materials. He also felicitated two students from the camp who cracked NEET-2025, along with other meritorious students, encouraging them to strive for greater success. Representatives of the Kuki Students’ Organisation and village chiefs submitted memoranda, seeking the construction of a multipurpose hall in the area.

Later, the Governor chaired interactive sessions at the DC office with MLAs, civil society representatives, and student leaders. The Kuki-Zo Council and Zomi Council raised issues concerning education, connectivity, governance, and IDP resettlement, urging necessary welfare measures. The Governor acknowledged their concerns and assured to look into the grievances.

In the afternoon, Governor Bhalla reviewed the district’s security situation through a presentation by Brigadier S. Prashanth, Commander of 27 Sector Assam Rifles, at the Sector Headquarters. The meeting was attended by Director General Assam Rifles Lt. General Vikas Lakhera, IGAR (South) Maj. General Ravroop Singh, IGP Kabib K., and other senior police and military officers.

In the evening, the Governor visited Geljang Resort, where he was welcomed by the village chief and enjoyed a traditional Mizo dance performance.
