War-On-Drugs : More Than 2000 Cannabis Plants Felled-Down In Sikkim

Drug consumption has become a severe issue that has engulfed all segments of society. Despite strict vigil, the illegal cultivation of cannabis is continuing unabated across Northeastern regions leading the police to tighten its noose.

In an attempt to put an end into woes of local populace and safeguard the lives of youth, more than 2000 cannabis plants were recently destroyed by authorities in Sikkim.

According to reports, the Gangtok Sadar Police Station under the guidance of Gangtok Superintendent of Police (SP) initiated a four-days campaign for felling-down cannabis plants in the Lyngdhok, Dikchu, Deorali Rural regions, Tadong Rural areas, Bhojogari Area, Ranka, and Pangthang districts.

Official statement informed that, as many as 2500 cannabis plants were destroyed along the concerned regions.
