In a massive crackdown against drug menace, the Assam Police have confiscated a large stash of brown sugar and heroin, worth of Rs 2 crores from Assam’s Golaghat and Karbi Anglong districts and six persons arrested in this connection.
As per an operation in Golaghat district, police seized 1.23 kg of brown sugar along with four mobile handsets, concealed in a four-wheeler from the Barpathar area on Sunday night. Four persons were held in this connection.
These seized contraband were worth of Rs 1.85 crore in the international market.
In another incident, a joint team of the police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) seized 208 gms of heroin from a vehicle at Dilapi under Bokajan Police Station in Karbi Anglong district on Monday morning. These seized narcotics were kept in 16 soap boxes, concealed in the vehicle’s door.
The value of the contrabands were estimated to be over Rs 16 lakh; and two persons were apprehended in this connection.
