The Manipur Chief Minister – N. Biren Singh today flagged-off 12 GPS-enabled highway patrol vehicles; and expressed confidence that the concerned effort would enhance the security of people and other vehicles plying along the National highways.
These patrol vehicles included three each for Tamenglong and Noney districts; and two each for Kangpokpi, Senapati and Tengnoupal Districts.
Addressing the flagging-off ceremony, the Manipur CM asserted that the GPS-enabled highway patrol vehicles were launched to enable quick response towards any untoward incidents, which occurs along the national highways of the northeastern state.
The location of the patrol vehicles can be tracked from the police headquarters.
Besides, the patrol teams would maintain a strict vigil along the highways, in order [ stop threatening and extortion of truck & bus drivers by unknown miscreants.
Stating that the aim of the government is to ensure people’s welfare and society, Singh noted that work on police modernization will change the morale of personnel and make them more people-friendly.
Taking to Twitter, the Manipur CM wrote “To further enhance security and safety on our highways, 12 more GPS-enabled vehicles for Highway Patrol, Phase – III were flagged off from my secretariat today. The state govt has been taking up these security measures to ensure advancement in trade and tourism in Manipur.”
