The Advisor of Horticulture & Border Affairs – Mhathung Yanthan urged the students of the Lotha community to safeguard their glorious culture and traditional values.

He noted the same, while addressing the two-days-long ‘Golden Jubilee celebration’ of the Dimapur Lotha Students’ Union (DLSU) at Dimapur Government College auditorium based on the theme “envisioning radiant posterity”.

During the event, Mhathung encouraged the youth to be proud of their identity, culture and tradition.

The advisor described the celebration as an opportunity to pay befitting tribute to the pioneers, their ideals and deeds.

“Their visions should be transmitted to the next generation,” – he continued.

Mhathung also cited the significance of speaking one’s native language and that people should not forget their roots, since they define who they are and where they belong.

The advisor pushed the members to respect each other and stand together, to ensure the progress of the community.

Additionally, he encouraged them to serve as ambassadors by exemplifying the community’s motto – ‘the land of plenty’.

Mhathung also advised the student community to make the best use of their time by deciding on a course that would shape their future.
