Arunachal’s First Lady IAS Officer – Indra Mallo Tana Representing India At UNHRC

The first lady IAS officer from Arunachal Pradesh – Indra Mallo Tana, who is a joint secretary in the union women & child development (WCD) ministry, is representing India at the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC)’s Universal Periodic Review (UPR) held at Geneva in Switzerland.

Mallo is a member of the Indian delegation, which comprises senior officials from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), the Ministry of Women & Child Development (WCD), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Ministry of Minority Affairs, Ministry of Rural Development, and the NITI Aayog, along with the vice chancellor of the National Law University in Delhi.

Taking to Twitter, the Arunachal Chief Minister – Pema Khandu wrote “This is such a delightful sight & a proud moment that Arunachal’s first woman IAS officer, Mrs Indra Mallo, currently serving as Jt Secy, @MinistryWCD, is representing our country at UN’s 41st session of universal periodic review meeting at Geneva, Switzerland. My best wishes.

The 41st session of the UPR Working Group is being held from November 7-18 at the UNHRC in Geneva. The UPR is a unique process that involves a periodic review of the human rights records of all 193 UN member states.

It is a significant innovation of the Human Rights Council, and is based on equal treatment for all countries.
