In a significant move towards recognizing and honoring the contributions of women in Arunachal Pradesh, the Arunachal Pradesh Women’s Welfare Society (APWWS) has submitted a formal appeal to the state chief secretary, requesting special leave for working women on the occasion of International Women’s Day, which is celebrated 8th March every year.
APWWS President K.N Maling, in a representation presented on Wednesday, urged the chief secretary not to assign government works, including examination duty, to women on this special day.
The appeal is reportedly grounded in the belief that actively engaging women in commemorating International Women’s Day will contribute to empowering them and acknowledging their invaluable contributions to society.
Maling emphasized, “I believe that by doing so, we can play an important role in empowering women by actively engaging them in commemorating women’s day, thereby acknowledging and honoring their invaluable contributions to our society.”
This appeal aligns with the broader global movement to celebrate and recognize the achievements and significance of women in various spheres.
