Guwahati, September 21: The Assam Government has issued new guidelines to protect student health amid the ongoing heatwave. These measures are effective immediately for schools in the Kamrup (Metro) district.

The guidelines, announced by the Kamrup (Metro) District Elementary Education Officer, state that school hours should start at 7:30 AM and end by 12:30 PM. Schools are required to hold morning assemblies inside classrooms and provide sufficient drinking water for students. It is also recommended that students do not wear waistcoats or ties during this period.

Schools must ensure that all fans are working and that classrooms are well-ventilated. In case of power outages, alternate power sources should be arranged. Other districts in Assam are also implementing similar guidelines to address the heatwave conditions.
