BSF Meghalaya Foils Cattle Smuggling Attempt Along Bangladesh Border

Shillong, Oct 14: The Border Security Force (BSF) Meghalaya intercepted an attempt to smuggle 27 cattle, including oxen and buffaloes, near the international border in West Jaintia Hills and East Khasi Hills districts.

Following specific intelligence, the 4th Battalion BSF launched a special operation, during which the cattle were found concealed in a forested area close to the border. The animals were intended to be smuggled into Bangladesh.

The BSF has handed over the seized cattle to the local police for further investigation. In a post on X, BSF Meghalaya stated, “Alert troops of 4th Bn BSF Meghalaya successfully rescued 27 cattle meant for smuggling to Bangladesh from the international border.”
