Meghalaya, Oct 24: Union Minister of Textiles Giriraj Singh will embark on a two-day visit to Meghalaya on October 25 and 26. On the first day, Singh will inaugurate the permanent campus of the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) at Umsawli and attend its convocation ceremony.
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and Minister of State for External Affairs and Textiles Pabitra Margherita will also attend the event. Later, Singh will review the Aspirational District Programme in Ri Bhoi district and discuss developmental initiatives with district officials.
On October 26, Singh will visit the Eri Silk Village in Umden, interacting with local weavers, artisans, and tourism stakeholders. He will also meet beneficiaries at the Umkon-1 Anganwadi Centre and Marngar Primary Health Centre.
The visit aims to boost infrastructure, connectivity, healthcare, education, startups, entrepreneurship, and tourism development in line with the Modi government’s vision of a “Viksit Bharat” and “Viksit Purvottar”.
