A wild elephant was electrocuted after coming into contact with an 11,000-volt power line hanging dangerously low in the Madhupur Parolinguri area of Dibrugarh district. The area is commonly crossed by wild elephant herds.

Dibrugarh Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) B.V. Sandeep confirmed that the elephant underwent an autopsy, and its remains were buried with the presence of local residents.

Locals have raised concerns about the power line, which they claim has been suspended at an unsafe height for over two years, posing a threat to both wildlife and human lives. Despite several complaints to authorities, no action has been taken to rectify the situation.
