Gangtok, Dec 23: Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang has cemented his status as the state’s undisputed leader after leading the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) to a decisive victory in the April 2024 assembly elections. The party clinched 31 out of 32 seats, ensuring a dominant political presence in the state.
Tamang’s victory places him alongside influential leaders like Nar Bahadur Bhandari and Pawan Kumar Chamling. His position was further solidified when Tenzing Norbu Lamtha, the lone MLA from the opposition Sikkim Democratic Front, defected to the SKM, pledging loyalty to Tamang and leaving the assembly opposition-less.
