In a significant botanical discovery, a team of researchers from Bengaluru has rediscovered the rare and endangered plant Sapria himalayana Griffith in the Eaglenest Wildlife Sanctuary in Arunachal Pradesh’s West Kameng district. First documented in 1836, Sapria himalayana is an endoparasitic plant renowned for its infrequent flowering and parasitic growth.

This rediscovery not only expands the plant’s known range but also highlights the exceptional biodiversity of the region. With habitat loss posing a growing threat to the species, experts are calling for further research into its ecological role and flowering patterns to ensure effective conservation efforts.
