Guwahati, Jan 9: A 16-member Assam Police team was mistakenly held captive by locals in Nagaland’s Mokokchung district after they unknowingly crossed into Nagaland during a raid. The incident took place on Tuesday night when the police, following directions from Google Maps, inadvertently entered Nagaland while pursuing a suspect.

The team from Jorhat District Police had been conducting a raid to apprehend a criminal. However, the GPS system led them into a tea garden area that appeared to be in Assam but was actually located in Nagaland. Locals, unaware of the error, detained the officers overnight, mistaking them for criminals.

The situation was eventually resolved, and the team was released. Authorities are investigating the incident to prevent similar misunderstandings in the future.
