Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang Attends Himalayan Folk Festival In Siliguri

Siliguri, Jan 11: Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang participated in the Himalayan Folk Festival in Siliguri on Saturday, a three-day event celebrating ethnic music, culture, and heritage. The festival also marked the conclusion of the Pan Himalayan Ethnic Singing Competition, which had been running for three months.

Soney Toto from Totopara, West Bengal, emerged as the winner of the competition, with Phutti Sherpa from Ilam, Nepal, securing the first runner-up position, and Sarnu Ram from Himachal Pradesh finishing as the second runner-up.

During the event, Chief Minister Tamang released the book ‘Mouri’ by the late Abhi Chandra Mothay and introduced the audio-visual project ‘Mero Rukh Mero Santati’.

The ‘Warnamala Pariwar’ took the occasion to honor the Chief Minister and several other prominent individuals, including Ugen Chopel, Mohan Rai, Thendup Norbu, Garjan Kumar Mallik, Narendra Kumar Tamang, Ramesh Chettri, Bikey Pradhan, Matt Keegan, and the singers from Warnamala Pariwar.

Deoashish Mothey, founder of Warnamala Pariwar and member of The Three Seas band, expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for his support and guidance, which helped make the festival a success.
