Sikkim experienced a magnitude 4.7 earthquake on 16th January, with the epicenter located at 28.53°N, 87.53°E, around 170 km from Tadong. The earthquake, which occurred at a depth of 10 km, caused mild tremors felt across various parts of the state.

Although no major damage has been reported, authorities have urged residents to stay alert for potential aftershocks as they continue to monitor the situation closely.
