Assam has reported a 16.41% decrease in road accident fatalities, with 163 deaths recorded between December 24, 2024, and January 15, 2025, compared to 195 fatalities during the same period in 2024. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma shared the positive development, while acknowledging the continuing concern over the loss of lives.

In a statement, CM Sarma expressed cautious optimism, stating, “This reduction is encouraging, but the loss of 163 lives is still deeply concerning. We must continue our efforts to prevent further fatalities and ensure safer roads for all.”

The Assam government has been working on improving road safety by enhancing infrastructure, raising awareness, and enforcing stricter traffic regulations. The Chief Minister’s message underscores the state’s commitment to reducing road accidents and protecting lives on the roads.
