Agartala, January 17, 2025: “The benefits of Central and State Government projects must reach the common people without delay,” emphasized Fisheries Minister Sudhangshu Das during a review meeting at the Gomati Zilla Parishad’s conference hall. Addressing officials from the Fisheries, Animal Resource Development and Scheduled Caste Welfare departments, he highlighted the government’s commitment to the welfare of the public through various developmental programs.
Deputy Director of Fisheries Department Krishna Hari Tripura shared updates on key initiatives. “We are constructing new fish markets in Mirza, Tulamura, and Gangacherra under the RIDF project,” he stated, adding that solar lights have been installed at Amar Sagar and Dhani Sagar. Under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana, 99 hectares in Gomati district will be brought under fish farming in FY 2024-25. “Additionally, Rs 1.33 crore has been disbursed to 5,664 fish farmers affected by recent floods,” he informed.
Dr. Bill Debbarma, Deputy Director of the Animal Resources Development Department, highlighted significant achievements. “The Jamjuri Veterinary Dispensary has been inaugurated, and construction is ongoing for the Kakraban Veterinary Dispensary, a new District Veterinary Hospital in Udaipur, and a pucca building for the Veterinary Hospital in Amarpur,” he noted. He also reported that 7.34 lakh cattle in Gomati district have been vaccinated this financial year.
The meeting saw active participation from key officials and representatives, including Gomati Zilla Parishad Sabhadipati Debal Debroy, MLAs Ranjit Das and Jitendra Majumdar, district Panchayat leaders, and senior administrative officials like District Magistrate Tarit Kanti Chakma. Directors of the Fisheries, Animal Resources, and Scheduled Caste Welfare Departments were also present.
Minister Das concluded the session by urging all departments to intensify their efforts to ensure that welfare schemes are implemented efficiently. “Timely delivery is not just an obligation but a promise to the people we serve,” he stated.
