Agartala, February 1, 2025: The Border Security Force (BSF), Tripura Frontier, has significantly intensified its surveillance and security measures along the India-Bangladesh international border. In a series of successful operations since January 26, 2025, BSF personnel have effectively thwarted multiple attempts of illegal infiltration, exfiltration, and trans-border smuggling.

According to an official statement, BSF troops, operating independently and in coordination with other agencies, have apprehended 14 Bangladeshi nationals and two Indian touts involved in unlawful border activities. Moreover, a substantial cache of contraband items, including narcotics, sugar, cattle, and other smuggled goods worth approximately ₹2.5 crore, has been seized.

Highlighting the strong bilateral cooperation between India and Bangladesh, the BSF has conducted nearly 80 simultaneous coordinated patrols with the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) to prevent illegal cross-border activities. In addition, multiple border coordination meetings have been held at different levels to strengthen security mechanisms and enhance real-time intelligence sharing.

Furthering its engagement with local communities, BSF battalions have organized over 40 village coordination meetings in border areas. These interactions aim to address concerns of border residents, encourage cooperation in preventing smuggling, and bolster the security environment.

In a decisive move against drug trafficking, BSF troops, in joint operations with other security and enforcement agencies, carried out an extensive Ganja destruction drive in remote areas. Over 1 lakh mature cannabis plants, illegally cultivated on nearly 60 acres of land, have been destroyed as part of the effort to curb narcotics production and trade.

Emphasizing its unwavering commitment, a senior BSF official stated, “Our troops remain vigilant to safeguard the nation’s borders. While ensuring strict surveillance against illegal cross-border activities, the BSF is also dedicated to contributing towards a ‘Drug-Free Society’ through active anti-narcotics campaigns.”

With enhanced vigilance, coordinated border management, and proactive law enforcement measures, the BSF continues to play a crucial role in maintaining national security while fostering regional stability.
