Imphal, Feb 4: Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh reiterated the state government’s continuous efforts to promote development across both the hills and valley regions since 2017, despite facing significant challenges such as the Covid-19 pandemic and ongoing ethnic tensions.
During a foundation stone laying ceremony for multi-storied government quarters in Langol, Imphal West, Singh acknowledged the hurdles the state has encountered, including the disruption caused by the pandemic and the ethnic clashes between the Meitei and Kuki-Zo communities. Despite these setbacks, he emphasized that the BJP-led government has remained steadfast in its mission to foster growth and address regional disparities.
“Although we faced challenges, including nearly two years of ethnic violence, our commitment to development has not wavered. We continue to focus on projects in both the hills and the valley, with efforts to resolve the ongoing situation,” Singh said.
Singh also highlighted ongoing initiatives like the construction of government employee quarters in New Checkon and the revitalization of Lamphalpat wetlands, which will soon be transformed into a recreational space. He urged citizens to keep the environment clean and ensure proper maintenance of infrastructure.
In a separate event, the Chief Minister inaugurated new facilities, including the Art and Culture building, an Open Gym, and laid foundation stones for a 33/11 KVA Sub Station and a swimming pool at Manipur University. He called on students to contribute to society post-graduation and emphasized the importance of fostering open dialogue within educational institutions to address the root causes of the state’s ethnic conflict.
