Bishalgarh, Feb 20, 2025: The 15th Bishalgarh Book Fair was inaugurated on Wednesday by Ratan Lal Nath, the Minister for Power, Agriculture, and Farmers’ Welfare, at the Bishalgarh Town Higher Secondary School ground. The four-day event, organized by the Bishalgarh Municipal Council, will run until February 22, 2025. This year’s book fair is themed “Amar Meye Amar Ahankarer” (My Daughter, My Pride), celebrating women’s empowerment.
In his inaugural address, Minister Nath emphasized the importance of books in shaping society, stating, “Books are a source of knowledge and thought. They help expand the light of knowledge and preserve the history of our civilization.” He urged the younger generation to read and stressed that, despite technological advancements, the need for books will never end.
The fair features 18 book stalls, including those from the Tripura Publishers Guild and All Tripura Book Sellers Association. Visitors can also enjoy cultural events, group discussions, and quiz competitions.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Sushanta Deb, Chairman of Bishalgarh Panchayat Samiti; Atasi Das, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Education; Tapan Das, Additional District Magistrate and Collector of Sepahijala; and Rinku Lather, among others. The event was presided over by Anjan Purkayastha, Chairperson of the Bishalgarh Municipal Council.
