In a significant move to safeguard and promote the rich cultural heritage of Arunachal Pradesh, the state government has allocated ₹60 crore to preserve and support its indigenous traditions. This investment aims to ensure the continued flourishing of the state’s cultural practices, providing a platform for artisans and preserving heritage for future generations.

The initiative includes the establishment of indigenous Gurukuls for various tribes, including the Apatani, Mishmis, Wancho, Tutsa, Sherdukpen, Sajolang, Bugun, and Aka. These Gurukuls will serve as hubs for the preservation and transmission of traditional knowledge, languages, and skills.

As part of the cultural promotion efforts, the state will introduce the Geographical Indicator (GI) Festival, which will be held annually to celebrate local crafts and products. With a target of 50 GI-tagged products by 2030, the festival will showcase the region’s unique cultural identity on a national scale.

Additionally, the State Festival, scheduled from January 11 to 21 each year, will continue to highlight the diverse cultures and traditions of Arunachal Pradesh.

This ₹60 crore allocation represents a major commitment by the state government to ensure the preservation and promotion of Arunachal Pradesh’s indigenous culture for years to come.
