Security Forces Arrest Multiple Militants In Manipur, Seize Weapons And Explosives

Security Forces in Manipur carried out multiple operations on Monday, leading to the arrest of several militants belonging to different underground groups.

In Bishnupur district, two cadres of the KYKL were apprehended from Wangoo Sabal under Kumbi Police Station. The arrested individuals were identified as Pukhrambam Bimol Singh alias Inaobi (39) and Athokpam Surchandra Singh alias Khaba alias Rabichandra (42).

In a separate operation, Manipur Police arrested two cadres of the KCP(PWG) from Haobam Marak Keisham Leikai under Singjamei Police Station in Imphal West district. The arrested militants, Yambem Gulshan alias Naoba (30) and Philem Jenan Singh (32), were allegedly involved in extortion from the public and local businesses. Security forces seized four No. 36 HE grenades without detonators and two mobile phones from their possession.

Meanwhile, another operation led to the arrest of an active member of the UPPK from Keirao Wangkhem, Ngariyan Chingkhong under Irilbung Police Station in Imphal East district. The militant, identified as Ningombam Bonbon Singh alias Shamu (45), was reportedly engaged in extortion from the general public, private firms, and government officials, as well as the transportation of arms and ammunition. A .32 pistol with a magazine and eight rounds of live .32 ammunition were recovered from him.

Security forces continue their operations to curb insurgent activities in the region.
