Kohima, Apr 18: A complete ban on specific single-use plastic (SUP) items will be enforced in Pungro starting May 1, 2025, as per a directive from ADC Pungro, James T Khulu Tikhir. The ban includes all single-use plastic carry bags, regardless of thickness, and plastic water and soft drink bottles below one litre capacity.

The ban applies to all individuals and organizations within the Pungro Town Council jurisdiction, including educational institutions, government and private offices, commercial establishments, and industrial units.

Violators will be penalized with fines of Rs. 10,000 for the first offence, Rs. 20,000 for the second, and repeat offenders could face permit cancellation.
