Kohima , Apr 18: The Wokha Road Safety Committee has taken a significant step towards improving public safety by installing CCTV cameras and introducing breath analyzers at the Wokha Police Station. The dedicated program, held on April 17, 2025, aims to strengthen law enforcement and enhance road safety measures in the town.
The event was attended by Deputy Commissioner Vineet Kumar (IAS), Superintendent of Police M. Rhovisie Nyuwi (IPS), members of the Road Safety Committee, and other officials.
During the ceremony, Deputy Commissioner Vineet Kumar praised the efforts of the Road Safety Committee and recognized the Transport Department for their support in funding the initiative. He emphasized the importance of using these tools, especially breath analyzers, to detect drunk drivers and ensure safer roads.
Superintendent of Police M. Rhovisie Nyuwi also spoke about the significance of the program in improving traffic regulation and road safety. He urged enforcement agencies to make effective use of the new equipment for better monitoring and law enforcement.
SDO (Civil) Wokha, Nuhuta Tunyi, who chaired the event, provided details about the CCTV installations. He stated that five cameras have been placed in key locations, with plans to expand to 15 cameras at strategic points across the town to address issues such as drug abuse, alcohol consumption, and road safety concerns.
The initiative marks a collaborative effort to enhance safety measures in Wokha, ensuring the well-being of its residents and visitors.
