Agartala, April 28, 2025: CPIM Politburo member and Leader of Opposition Jitendra Chaudhury on Monday demanded that cooking gas be supplied through pipelines to every household in Sabroom subdivision under South Tripura district, emphasizing the availability of natural gas in the sub-division.
Speaking to reporters here, Chaudhury said, “Tripura is a small state blessed with abundant natural beauty. Natural gas has been discovered in almost all districts, and in Agartala city, CNG and cooking gas are already being supplied through pipelines.”
Highlighting the situation in Sabroom, he added, “ONGC has found natural gas in every part of Sabroom subdivision. Despite this, residents here still depend on gas cylinders and even traditional wooden barrels for cooking.”
Chaudhury asserted that it was unjust for the people of Sabroom to be deprived of modern gas supply facilities when resources are readily available. “It is the rightful demand of the people that cooking gas should reach every household through pipelines, just like in the capital city,” he said.
The MLA urged authorities to take immediate steps to extend the pipeline network to different areas of Sabroom, ensuring a more efficient and sustainable energy solution for residents.
