In a move aimed at bolstering internal security, Manipur Police have launched a comprehensive “survey and verification” drive targeting illegal Bangladeshi and Pakistani nationals residing in the state without valid documentation.

The crackdown follows the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, which has heightened concerns about national security. According to officials, the operation will focus on areas flagged by intelligence inputs — including Lilong, Minuthong, Kwakta, Mayang Imphal, Sora, and Kairang in the Imphal Valley — where foreign nationals are suspected to be living without valid visas or Inner Line Permits (ILP).

Senior police authorities have instructed all concerned police stations to verify the residential status of individuals in these regions and to initiate appropriate legal proceedings against any undocumented immigrants identified during the process.

This initiative forms part of ongoing efforts by law enforcement to address longstanding concerns over illegal immigration in Manipur, a state where demographic and security sensitivities related to migration have remained a persistent issue.
