Agartala, May 6: In a successful operation on May 6, the Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) arrested two women from Bihar who were attempting to smuggle 22.405 kilograms of cannabis at Agartala Railway Station.

The contraband was hidden in six packets inside two pit bags and a trolley bag carried by the accused. The women, identified as Manju Devi (45) from Lakshmisharai district and Rachana Devi (36) from Bhagalpur district, were reportedly trying to transport the drugs to Punjab, with an estimated black market value of ₹4.5 lakh.

Initial investigations suggest that this may not be the first time the women have used trains departing from Agartala for illicit trafficking. A formal case has been filed under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the Agartala GRP police station.
