Security forces in Manipur have arrested two individuals in separate anti-narcotics operations, leading to the seizure of over 1.5 kilograms of suspected heroin and two vehicles, officials said.
On Monday, a joint team apprehended one individual near Venus Hotel in Gouchinkhup Veng under Churachandpur Police Station. The accused, identified as Letminthang (29) from P Chehjang village in Chandel district, was found in possession of 108 soap cases containing approximately 1.296 kilograms of suspected Heroin No. 4. A four-wheeler vehicle, an Aadhaar card, and a mobile phone were also seized during the operation.
In a separate operation conducted on Sunday in Tengnoupal district, security forces intercepted a vehicle and carried out an intensive mechanical search that extended into the early hours of May 5. Nineteen packets of suspected heroin powder, weighing approximately 205 grams, were discovered concealed inside the dashboard cavity of the vehicle.
The driver, identified as Abdul Rauf Khan (33) of Khandikar village, Tamulpur district, Assam, was arrested, and the vehicle was seized.
Authorities said both cases are under investigation as part of ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region.
