Guwahati, May 22: Two women were arrested for allegedly robbing a youth at knife-point in the Ganeshguri area of Guwahati on Wednesday night. The victim, Sahil Basfor, who is from Tinsukia, had come to the city for official work.

According to police, the incident occurred around 10 PM when Sahil was approached by Janmoni Begum. Another woman, Amina Begum, reportedly joined her and threatened Sahil with a knife before taking Rs 18,000 from him.

Sahil lodged a complaint at Dispur Police Station, following which a police team arrested the two women and recovered the stolen money.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (East), Mrinal Deka, confirmed the arrests and said that further investigation is ongoing.
