Agartala, May 28, 2025: A pivotal meeting aimed at transforming Tripura’s internal power transmission network by 2034-35 was held on Tuesday at Pragya Bhavan in Agartala. The session was chaired by Central Electricity Authority (CEA) Chairman Ghanshyam Prasad, brought together senior officials from both state and central power agencies to discuss long-term strategies for bolstering the state’s power infrastructure.
The meeting was attended by Tripura Power Secretary Abhishek Singh (IAS), Managing Director of Tripura State Electricity Corporation Ltd. (TSECL) Biswajit Basu, CEA Chief Engineer B.S. Bairbha, and Finance Director of TSECL Sarvajit Singh Dogra. Also present were General Managers from Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL), and Tripura Power Generation Limited (TPGL), along with senior representatives from CTUIL, NERPC, NERLDC, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd., and TPTL.
Officials deliberated on projections that Tripura’s power demand is expected to grow significantly over the next decade. The discussion focused on ensuring that generation and transmission systems evolve accordingly to maintain stability and efficiency. A joint roadmap is being considered, with the CEA and the state power department set to collaborate closely on implementation.
“The aim is to proactively strengthen Tripura’s power infrastructure in anticipation of future demand. Through joint planning and sustained investment, we can ensure energy security and drive industrial growth in the region,” said Ghanshyam Prasad.
Tripura Power Secretary Abhishek Singh emphasized the state’s commitment, stating, “With growing demand, especially in rural and industrial areas, this roadmap will be crucial in ensuring uninterrupted and sustainable power supply.”
The Tripura Government and power corporations expressed gratitude to the Central Electricity Authority for its ongoing support and coordination. Delegates were also warmly welcomed to the state, known for its cultural heritage and the sacred shrine of Goddess Tripurasundari.
Officials expressed optimism that the collaborative spirit of the meeting would usher in a new era of infrastructure development for Tripura’s energy sector. The next steps will likely include technical assessments, financial planning, and phased implementation aligned with the 2034-35 development vision.
