The family of Kongbrailatpam Nganthoi, a 20-year-old cabin crew member from Thoubal Awang Leikai, Manipur, is anxiously awaiting official confirmation of her status following the tragic crash of an Air India flight near Ahmedabad.

Though Nganthoi’s name has reportedly appeared among the list of victims, no official confirmation has yet been provided by the authorities. The uncertainty has left the family in a state of distress, with no direct communication from her since the incident.

On Friday, a team of volunteers led by the president of the EMA Trust visited Nganthoi’s residence to express solidarity and offer emotional support. “The pain of not knowing is unbearable. We urge the authorities to expedite the identification process,” said the Trust president.

Reports suggest that a mobile phone believed to belong to Nganthoi was recovered from the crash site, but officials have yet to verify the claim.

In an effort to help confirm her identity, Nganthoi’s younger sister, Geetanjali, is travelling to Ahmedabad from Imphal. A DNA test will be conducted to ascertain if any of the recovered remains are hers.

The family has appealed to the government and concerned agencies for timely updates and assistance as they endure this difficult period.
