Manipur Police Seize Meth Worth Rs 22 Crore, Arrest Truck Driver In Major Drug Bust

In a major anti-drug operation, Manipur Police on Wednesday intercepted a Tata truck at New Keithelmanbi Police Picket under Patsoi Police Station in Imphal West district and seized a large quantity of suspected contraband items concealed within the vehicle.

During a thorough inspection, police discovered 50 packets of Methamphetamine drugs hidden inside the roof ceiling of the truck. Sample testing confirmed the substance as Methamphetamine. The total weight of the seized drugs is approximately 57.285 kilograms, with an estimated value of around Rs 22 crore in the international market.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as Nawaj Sharif (34) of Lilong Chingjao in Thoubal district, was arrested on the spot. In addition to the drugs, police also seized the Tata truck and a mobile phone from his possession.

Authorities have initiated further investigation into the case to trace the source and possible network behind the smuggling attempt.
