Agartala, June 14, 2025: In a major initiative aimed at uplifting tribal communities, the Tripura government is set to roll out a 15-day welfare campaign titled ‘Dharti Aabha Janbhagidari Abhiyan’ beginning Sunday i.e. June 15. The programme seeks to ensure doorstep delivery of key government services to tribal populations across the state.

Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma will inaugurate the campaign, which will see special service camps being held in 392 revenue villages, according to Tribal Welfare Director Subhasish Das.

“These camps will help residents access a wide range of services, including Aadhaar enrolment, ration cards, caste and permanent residential certificates, PM Ayushman Bharat cards, Kisan Credit Cards (KCC) and benefits under the PM Kisan scheme,” said Das.

In addition to service delivery, gram sabhas will be convened to raise awareness about government schemes tailored for tribal welfare. A total of 25 schemes under 17 Union ministries will be implemented during the fortnight-long campaign.

The initiative is part of the national ‘Dharti Aabha Janjatiya Gram Ukarsha Abhiyan’, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in October 2023, which aims to develop 63,843 tribal villages across 549 districts between 2024 and 2029.

Tripura has already received ₹80.99 crore under the scheme for various infrastructure projects, including the construction and renovation of hostels and multipurpose marketing centres. An additional ₹42.37 crore has been sanctioned to enhance electrification in tribal areas, covering 7,677 households and lighting 512 public spaces.

“This campaign highlights the state government’s resolve to achieve inclusive growth by ensuring last-mile delivery of essential services and increasing tribal participation in governance,” Das added.

Officials said the initiative would play a key role in bridging the development gap and strengthening institutional support for tribal communities throughout the state.
