Agartala, April 12, 2025: In a major crackdown on narcotics smuggling, Assam Rifles, in a joint operation with the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), seized 60,000 Yaba tablets from a vehicle in Teliamura, Tripura on Saturday.
The narcotics were recovered from a WagonR car bearing registration number AS 01-AV-1079. The seized tablets are estimated to have a market value of approximately Rs 6 crore in the international market.
Two individuals—Dilbar Hussain, a resident of Hailakandi, Assam, and Md Juber Ahmad from Karimganj, Assam—were apprehended during the operation.
Both the accused, along with the seized contraband, have been handed over to the DRI for further investigation and legal proceedings.
Officials said the operation highlights the continued commitment of Assam Rifles in curbing drug trafficking across the region.
