Security forces arrested two militants affiliated with different proscribed outfits from Imphal West and Imphal East districts, police said on Thursday.
In a joint operation on Wednesday, an active member of the banned Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) was apprehended from Phayeng village in Imphal West district. The militant has been identified as Angom Ajoy Meitei, 32. Authorities recovered a bulletproof jacket, bulletproof helmet, telescope, and other items from his possession.
In a separate operation, another militant belonging to the outlawed Kangleipak Communist Party (Lalumba) was arrested from the tri-junction of Laiharobam Leirak in Imphal East district. He has been identified as Wahengbam Ramananda Singh, 50. Security forces seized a 9 mm pistol with a magazine and six live rounds, along with two .32 pistols, their magazines, and eight live rounds from him.
Meanwhile, a search operation conducted at Saidan village in Churachandpur district on Wednesday led to the recovery of a cache of arms, including a 303 rifle with magazine, a 9 mm pistol, a modified carbine machine gun with magazine, a locally-made single barrel gun, a modified long-range 81 mm mortar, and other articles.
