Agartala, April 30, 2025: A wave of political unrest has gripped Tripura following the torching of the CPIM party office in Mandai, with Opposition Leader and CPIM Politburo member Jitendra Chaudhury directly accusing the ruling party of backing the attackers.

Participating in a “Red Flag” protest program in Agartala on Tuesday, Chaudhury launched a scathing attack on the government over the incident. The protest was organized to condemn rising attacks and vandalism against CPIM leaders and offices across the state, including in Mandai, Agartala, and Dharmanagar.

Referring to the Mandai incident, Chaudhury remarked, “The party office was set ablaze, and the ASP says the investigation is still underway. How will you save your faces?” He expressed frustration over the state’s law enforcement, saying, “Filing an FIR has become futile, because not a single culprit has been arrested in such cases for years.”

Issuing a stern warning, he declared, “The miscreants will not be spared. Everyone responsible will have to be held accountable one day.”

He further alleged that the state is slipping into lawlessness, asserting, “There is no rule of law here anymore. Terrorism is being given direct patronage by the state.”

Meanwhile, CPIM leaders have strongly condemned the incident, terming it an attack on democratic values. They have demanded the immediate arrest of those responsible, calling it a test of the government’s commitment to justice and democracy.
