Itanagar, May 15: The 8th edition of the prestigious Hangpan Dada Memorial Trophy is set to begin on May 23 and will conclude on June 2 in Pasighat. The tournament, which features football and volleyball competitions for under-16 boys and girls, is expected to draw over 1,400 participants.
Local MLA Tapi Darang attended a coordination meeting to review preparations for the event, assuring all possible help for its smooth conduct. East Siang DC, T.Taggu, emphasized the importance of completing assigned tasks to ensure a successful tournament.
The Hangpan Dada Memorial Trophy was launched to honor Havildar Hangpan Dada, a brave soldier from Arunachal Pradesh who was posthumously awarded the Ashok Chakra for his sacrifice in fighting terrorism. The tournament aims to promote sportsmanship and patriotism among the youth.
