Arambai Tenggol on Tuesday announced the immediate suspension of its ongoing 10-day bandh across Manipur. The group said it would now adopt other democratic forms of protest to press for its demands, according to a statement made by Arambai Tenggol PRO Kh. Robin Mangang during a press conference.

The announcement comes amid escalating unrest in the Imphal valley, where widespread protests continued on Monday despite prohibitory orders. Demonstrators clashed with security forces in multiple districts, demanding the unconditional release of Arambai Tenggol leader Asem Kanan Singh and four others who were recently arrested.

Tensions flared in the Khurai Lamlong area of Imphal East on Monday night, leading security personnel to fire multiple rounds of tear gas and rubber bullets to disperse agitated crowds. Police reported that at least one four-wheeler was set ablaze by protesters during the clash.

Similar demonstrations, including road blockades and tyre burnings, were also reported from Thoubal and Kakching districts, highlighting the growing unrest across the valley.
